About

Hi, my name is Madelaine Mongey and I am a potter based in Vancouver, BC. I absolutely love making wheel thrown ceramics. It brings me great joy to create a vessel that can be held and used every day.

I graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2013 with a BFA in drawing. At the time, I thought clay was for nerds and I didn't touch clay one time in college. I tried wheel throwing in 2016 and was instantly hooked.

When I am creating a pot, I am focused on form and profile. My pots are smooth, balanced, and light. Each pot is finished in a glaze that I make myself; my glazes are formulated to be both durable and intriguing. Ceramics is quite vast and I enjoy spending my time experimenting with different materials, techniques, and firing processes.

I have been teaching both hand building and wheel throwing since 2018 and am now offering classes at my studio at Venables and Commercial Drive.
